THE WILDCRAFT SPIN-IN
Friday 15th - Sunday 17th August 2014.
Now in it's fifth year, the Wildcraft Spin-in is a friendly outdoor get-together, hosted on our farm in Dorset.
It's an event for anyone interested in spinning and wool. We have open studio sessions for dyeing, fibre preparation and spinning. Meet our sheep, try your hand at drum and hand carding, spinning on a wheel or a spindle, wool dyeing, and much more. Or simply relax with your spinning outdoors in a beautiful rural location. Onsite camping is available too, camping is free for anyone with an entry ticket.
We'll also have a fibre/yarn market, with fibres and spindles from Wildcraft, and a number of other sellers.
On the Saturday evening we'll host a BBQ. A BBQ meal is provided for all ticket holders.
Our workshops this year take the form of open studio sessions, rather than formally taught events. On Saturday we'll have a full wool dyeing studio setup available, with expert help on hand should you need advice and/or tuition. On Sunday we'll have a fibre preparation and spinning studio session, where you can make free use of my drum carders, wool combs, spinning wheels and spindles. Other impromptu sessions on needle felting and various other wool crafts will happen during the weekend. These are free, as is use of the fibre studio. Full use of the dyeing studio comes at a price of £10 (provide your own fibre to dye, or you can get it from us).
- Friday - You may arrive any time after lunch (1pm) to set up tents etc.
- Saturday - Gates open 9am. Open Dye Studio Workshop runs all day (10-4pm)
- Sunday. Gates open 9am. Open Fibre Prep and Spinning Studio runs all day (10-4pm). Event closes at 5pm.
Directions - The event site will be signposted from the main road, but Wildcraft HQ is rather tucked away in a rural setting that isn't always identified precisely by GPS. Printable directions may be downloaded from here.
Children over 12 years old are welcome, if you'd like to bring younger children, please do ask as we might be able to accommodate you. Sorry, since we have sheep on the farm, no dogs allowed.
