A beautiful handmade top-whorl spindle with a leaping hare design. The whorl is made from a combination of polymer clay and resin - resulting in a whorl that is lightweight, well balanced and super shiny on the surface. The spindle has a birch wood shaft, which is 23cm long. The whorl is notched to the back of the hook. Total weight is 24g. The handmade silver-plated hook is in a swan-neck style, which balances the yarn properly above the centre of the spindle. Has been lathe balanced and test spun to ensure it spins well.
This spindle is supplied with a robust custom-made shipping container, which also acts as a handy carrying case for later.
The resin used for the whorl contains a UV protectant, however to avoid any yellowing of the surface, we recommend that you store your spindle away from direct sunlight.
You'll also receive a small length of pure wool top to practice spinning with. It might not necessarily be the wool from the photo as I keep various oddments in stock for packaging with spindles.
