Ugh, the weather here lately has been dull, so I haven't been inspired to take many photos. I did however take some pics of my Ryeland ewes, who are expecting their lambs in about 6 weeks time. This is the best, a photo of Coffee, she's looking smug here because she's managed to get a full haynet all to herself.
And meanwhile, last year's ewe lambs are having to share.
That's Kettle looking at the camera, she's a crossbred lamb, daughter of Buffy, who's also a crossbred, so Kettle's half Ryeland, half Heinz 57. Despite her unknown ancestry, her fleece looks lovely. It has the Ryeland colouring and her mum's staple length. Since she's a crossbred and not pure Ryeland, I'll be keeping her fleece for myself to spin (unlike the purebred fleeces, which I'll sell to other handspinners). I'm thinking it'll make a nice sweater, or maybe a blanket. And while I snuggle under the cosy fabric, I doubt I'll be able to forget Kettle's cheeky expression!
